The topic of this course is the automated assembly of shredded documents. Since reconstructing documents manually is a difficult and tedious job the students are assigned the task to develop a system that is capable of assembling fragments automatically. The students will implement a very recent approach which involves many different research areas such as image processing and graph algorithms. The course is split into two parts. After the introductory phase with small programming assignments the students will work in small teams for the actual project.

  • Participation in the exercises to prepare for the project
  • Each student must read the related papers thoroughly
  • Teamwork
  • Written documentation of the project (can be done in Word, LaTeX, OpenOffice, etc...)
  • Programming will mostly be in C/C++
  • There is no introductory test

The course itself is held in German. You can write the documentation either in German or English, whatever you prefer most.
