News

The time of the course has changed! It now takes place on Friday, from 09:30 - 14:00.

Synopsis

Digital video technology has become part of our everyday life. Digital cameras and camcorders, home theaters and audio/video distribution systems are commonplace. Even your cellphone can also serve as a digital camera today. This course offers the possibilty to learn more about the technology that lies at the core of this development.

In this course, skills for handling digital video and for programming video processing algorithms will be taught. Topics include video data coding/decoding, compression, and filtering. After an introductory phase with small programming assignments handed out each week, class projects with larger projects will be given out. Students will work in groups for the class projects.

Prerequisites

The lecture "Multimedia Grundlagen" is a prerequisite. The "Software Praktikum" is a very helpful preparation. The Programming will be in C/C++, therefore at least a basic knowledge of C/C++ is mandatory. Students have to pass an introductory test of their programming skills to be admitted to the course.

Topics

In the group phase students work in groups of 2-3 together in a project team. The topics will be different approaches to text segmentation in images and videos.

Bitte beachten:

  • Programm-Code vollständig abgeben, mit allen *.cpp, *.h-Files, aber ohne Binaries o.ä.
  • Programm-Code als Archiv mit Verzeichnisstruktur abgeben. Beim Entpacken soll alles im Ordner Blatt?? landen. Die Unterverzeichnisse heißen dann Aufgabe??.
  • Am Anfang jedes Files eine Kommentarzeile mit dem Namen des Files, dem Aufgabenblatt, der Aufgabennummer, dem Namen des Autors und der Matrikelnummer einfügen.
  • Sonstige Lösungen bitte in ein druckbares File (z.B. *.odt *.sxw, *.pdf, *.doc, *.txt) ebenfalls mit den Informationen zum Autor in der ersten Zeile.
